How Does Your Garden Grow
Musical Performance by the 4th Grade
Friday, November 9 at 9:00am in Sellman

Dear 4th Families:

Wow - what an amazing first month of 4th grade music. The students have been very busy bees working hard to re-design, re-write, and create an amazing 4th grade musical script "How Does Your Garden Grow?".  The script (with assigned parts - their names in the script) was sent home last week and hopefully they have shared the script with you and started to work on memorizing their lines & lyrics to the songs!  I am so very proud of the way your beautiful kids are working together. We started this musical with an SEL check in.  We talked about our excitement and anxiety around preparing a huge production.  We have worked every week on Performance Anxiety regulation techniques!  I have shared some of these in the Google Drive below.  Together we have set educational and emotional goals to provide all students with equal access to a safe environment to share their talents with each other & soon....with you!

A couple of parents have volunteered to help me with the costumes.  We will be meeting in the upcoming weeks to plan.  Please wait on any purchases for the musical.  We should have a consistent plan of action to you by mid-October!!  :)

I will need helpers when it's time to put up the set and take down the set following the production. Please consider volunteering to help - thank you!

40 SEL strategies we have been incorporating into the practices

Also, we will be adding updates so this script is the most updated version to use to practice from. Please check back to make sure your child is practicing the most updated version.

Take care & keep practicing,

Our amazing Garden musical is becoming a SPECTACULAR musical.  I hope you are seeing the joy in your kids' faces.  We have continued to work on SEL - identifying emotions as we go to regular and enjoy the process.  We have also worked on performance anxiety skills - but it can be a challenge to engage these skills at this age.  Please remind your students  - breathing, smiling, drinking water, using the restroom before the performance & most important - PRACTICE- when they feel prepared & have their work memorized - this will build confidence!

Costumes - please note - ALL Students need to send in by OCT 24:

Black long sleeve or short sleeve shirt & Black leggings or pants (in bag marked with child's name).

It would be great if you could send in this base costume by Oct 24 so we can add the extra special costumes designed by Amberlee & Jennifer! ahead of time!!  Please send in a bag marked with your child's name.
