Instructional Technology Lead

Prior to coming to Woodside, I taught for 11 years in both the Cupertino and Poway school districts. In those districts, I taught 2nd and 4th grade as well as 4 years as a technology resource teacher working with teachers on using technology in the classroom. I also began teaching a technology class for teachers in the credential program at Santa Clara University.

In 2005, I came to Woodside School as the Director of Instructional Technology. I managed the technology program here and was able to spend time working with students and teachers in using technology in the classroom. I later moved back into the classroom and taught 3rd grade. After being out of the classroom for 8 years it was amazing to start using some of the technology that didn’t even exist when I last taught in a regular classroom. After 5 years, I was asked to become the Technology Lead where I am now responsible for the school’s tech department. I continued to teach as the coding teacher for students in grades 3 – 8. Last year I was given the opportunity to move away from teaching coding and start teaching design thinking with all of our students. I love my new role as the design lead and I look forward to enhancing this program as I work with students, parents, and teachers.

My name is Sandeep Tulachan, and I joined Woodside Elementary School District in 2016 as a part-time tech employee. Within the year I was working full time. At WESD, I oversee web filtering, networking devices, day-to-day technical support, user support, information security, wifi issues, chromebook issues, HelpDesk ticketing as well as support teaching Design, Java, and Web Development elective classes.

I graduated from San Francisco State University with a BS in Computer Science. I have always been drawn to tech companies, but it was the amazing culture at Woodside School that made it the best fit. I’m fortunate to have an opportunity to work with a great design team, and to develop creative opportunity for students. I feel lucky to work with TK-8 students, and an amazing dedicated Administrator, Staff, Woodside Foundation, and Parent Teacher Association.

Previously, I worked as a technology trainer at Community Technology Network (CTN). I provided training on basic computer skills, internet safety/security, Microsoft Office software, email, and online communications.

Prior to CTN, I was at the Market Research Industry where I worked as a programmer. I was involved in all phases of the software development lifecycle from design to development to testing. I have worked collaboratively with front and back-end engineers.

During my college years at City College of San Francisco, I tutored at Metro Academy of Early Childhood Education. I facilitated tutorial sessions with individual students or small groups in the following math courses: Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry and Pre-calculus. I also worked at MESA (Mathematics Engineering Science Achievement) and assisted students who were pursuing careers in science or engineering. Also, I was involved in various group projects, such as building a server on Ruby on Rails, online game programming, compiler (in Java), web applications and many more.

My interests are in software engineering, web Development, game programming, network and operating system security.

I live in South San Francisco with my wife and our 3 year old daughter. In my free time I enjoy going to the beach, watching soccer, playing tennis, and spending quality time with friends and family.
