On any given day, I can look around the room and feel like the luckiest person in the entire world. I get to spend almost every day with with fifth and sixth graders. I have been teaching for 18 years. I taught 5th grade for 16 years and decided to try something new last year and ventured to middle school, still teaching what I love...SCIENCE. Now I teach 5th and 7th grade science. Students grow so much over these years and I will never get tired of watching them become independent and responsible. It is going to be the best year ever and I am grateful to be a part of TWO strong and supportive teams! I am also so lucky to spend every day teaching with Melissa, Chelsea, Gillian, and Nicki. We really do complement each other is every way.
I grew up in Sonoma, California with my mom. I attended the University of Southern California where I earned my undergraduate and Masters degree in Education with an emphasis in the biological sciences. While at SC, I participated in Semester at Sea, where I circumnavigated the globe by ship, exploring 10 different countries in 100 days. It was a life-changing experience. After graduating college, I moved to the Manhattan Beach area where I taught 5th grade for 10 years.
Now, I live in Menlo Park with my husband, Jake and sons, Casey and Drew. Jake is a Executive Vice President at HPE and is an amazingly supportive and thoughtful husband. Casey started 5th grade at La Entrada this year. He LOVES the San Francisco Giants and Buster Posey. Drew was so excited to start 3rd grade at Las Lomitas. He loves all sports and his big brother. We spend our free time taking field trips, being outside, having dinner with friends, and traveling to Tahoe. The West Shore is the BEST Shore! On most Friday nights you can find us eating dinner at the Dutch Goose.
This year is going to be a good one! I can't wait to watch your children grow and learn. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me about anything at all.
