SAFETY- The first week of science will be spent reviewing the science safety rules!  The students will review the rules and contract, get it signed by parents, and take a quiz.

NORMS-After the students take the safety quiz, we will be discussing and creating our class NORMS; a set for the students and a set for the teacher.  We are not quite done, but will fill in the blanks when we finish!

TOPOGRAPHY- is the shape of the surface of an area and includes the elevations of land formations like mountains.  

TOPOGRAPHICAL MAPS-a two-dimensional representation of a three-dimensional land surface.

  • contour intervals
  • rivers, oceans
  • locations, such as schools, airports, campgrounds

BATHEMETRY and BATHYMETRIC MAPS-shows depths of bodies of water using countor lines

WATER CYCLE-the cycle of processes by which water circulates between the earth's oceans, atmosphere, and land, involving precipitation as rain and snow, drainage in streams and rivers, and return to the atmosphere by evaporation and transpiration.

-Students reviewed the water cycle (HYDROLOGIC CYCLE) by researching one stage and creating a presentations.  Students did everything from a Google slideshow to creating their own rap songs!  All were informational and entertaining.  :)

The MAPS and WATER CYCLE QUIZ will be on September 28th!  Notebooks are due on the 28th, too!
