Physical Education: Grades 5-8

About Me: I am excited to start my fourth year at Woodside Elementary School! I have spent my entire teaching career of 18 years as a Physical Education Teacher in the Bay Area. As a native of Oregon, I attended Southern Oregon University on an athletic scholarship where I received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and a Masters in Education.
I started my teaching career in Pacifica and spent twelve years within San Francisco Unified School District teaching middle school physical education at Alice Fong Yu K-8 School. During my 12 years at AFY, my students led the district in Fitnessgram testing and performed as one of the top schools in the state of California. In addition to teaching, I have also coached track and wrestling from middle school to the college level.
I love staying active and trying new things--from paddle boarding, to scuba diving, to archery. I hope to learn about how you like to stay active! I look forward to an exciting and successful school year!
Vision Statement: I believe the quality and productivity of each individual’s life is enhanced through participation in a comprehensive physical education program that promotes the optimal growth and development in their physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. A developmentally appropriate physical education program empowers students to make wise choices, meet challenges, and exhibit positive behaviors in lifelong fitness and movement activity.
