Dear Parents,
It has been brought to my attention that students are air dropping inappropriate pictures to each other. I wanted to share with you that:
AirDrop on personal devices is not something school district can manage. It's a feature that lets iOS and Mac OS devices share files wirelessly. It uses point-to-point communication to transfer data and the bluetooth to broadcast/discover. Although the user needs to turn wi-fi on, they don't need to be on a wi-fi network.
This feature is available on:
  • iPhone 5, iPod touch 5th generation or later,
  • iPad 4 or iPad Mini or later
  • Mac released in 2012 and beyond, excluding the mid-2012 Mac Pro.
We want you to know that you can change the setting to disable this feature. I added a link (see below) for iOS version 12. For other versions it’s pretty similar.
