4th Grade TeacherBenko
Rm. 16 (4A)
I am delighted to be joining the exceptional team here at Woodside School! Having grown up in the East Bay, my fiancé and I recently made the wonderful decision to move to Woodside.

Returning to 4th grade has me filled with immense joy and enthusiasm. I love this age group and started out teaching 4th grade before moving up to teaching middle school. It makes me so happy to be able to work with students on the fundamentals that I know they will need for future success.

Beyond the classroom, I have a deep passion for volleyball. I am an avid fan of the sport and also enjoy coaching both boys’ and girls’ volleyball teams. Sports have always played a significant role in my life and I love being able to share that with players/students.

During my leisure time, I adore moments spent with my fiance. We love exploring the area and having quiet nights with our books. I also enjoy quality time with my younger siblings and future in-laws, staying active, baking, and have recently gotten more into traveling. I love a good trip to Tahoe, but Maui and Barcelona were something else!

Education: I attended California State University East Bay for my undergraduate degree in Liberal Studies Teacher Preparation, my multiple subject credential and single subject authorizations, and the master's program for Reading and Literacy.

Teaching Philosophy: I strongly believe that every student adds something special to our classroom community and in the importance of celebrating those strengths. In my classroom- mistakes are expected, inspected, respected, and corrected. We are all here to work as a team and have school be a place where students can thrive, be challenged, feel supported, feel safe, know that their teacher cares and wants them to succeed, and be set up for long-term success.

I welcome open communication and feel that collaboration is vital for a great year. I care deeply about my students and am a very open and communicative person who is always happy to check-in. So please feel free to meet with or chat with me so that we can work in partnership to have this be a fantastic year of fourth grade!

Woodside is truly an extraordinary community and I feel incredibly privileged to be a part of it.
