There is no known culture in the world or in any era in history that does not have a musical practice. Participating in music is not about talent, it is about being human. Because it is such a natural part of who we are, we will find a way to create music – no matter our circumstances.

 

This class expands our Western idea of what music is as we create organized sound using “found” instruments (BUCKETS!!). Students will be asked to create original works in small groups, and read rhythms of composed pieces for found instruments in order to enjoy music-making as an entire class. This class is a PASS/NO PASS class, there will be no required homework assignments. However, I do expect cooperative attitudes and 100% effort. THIS CLASS IS LOUD AND FUN!!
