Taught by Sr. Bjorn Wickstrom, the Middle School Spanish teacher, the 5th grade Exploratory Spanish curriculum provides students with an introduction to Spanish and elements of culture from countries that speak this language. Designed to be a fun and engaging environment where students can learn the basics of Spanish while developing a deeper understanding of the curriculum of learning a second language. Students will develop listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Spanish with an emphasis on oral philosophies. Throughout the trimester, students are also expected to develop an understanding of the culture by participating in creative activities and holiday celebrations. This program is design to elicit interest in the language and potentially inspire future study.
