World Bullying Prevention Month — 2022
If you recall, for August and September, we have a theme of Community, to strengthen the connections between home and school and thankfully we were able to restore some of the amazing community-building traditions that we’ve missed in the past 2.5 years.

As we look to October, this month’s theme will be agency, responsibility and accountability. We ask you to reflect on how, as a community and as individuals, we can be responsible for our actions and words. How can we hold ourselves and others accountable? We look forward to some parent education and sharing useful resources for you and your family, and on Monday, Oct. 3, Woodside Elementary School is participating in the kickoff of World Bullying Prevention Month. The initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage kindness to reduce hate and be respectful to all people.

On this day, we encourage all our community to wear blue t-shirts and our staff will be wearing the STOMP Out Bullying ‘Unapologetically Kind’ blue t-shirts. It is yet another way we are committed to creating a fully inclusive WES experience for all of ourstudents.

Finally, speaking about inclusivity, please save the date for a Common Ground Speaker Series - Parent Education event - on ‘How To Bring DEI Into Everyday Life’ on January 10, 2023.  The Common Ground Speaker Series presents distinguished speakers in education, parenting and health at venues across the San Francisco Peninsula. Parents, faculty and staff at member schools attend the Common Ground online events free of charge.  In collaboration with the PTA, WES has been fortunate to be a part of the Common Ground Speaker Series for many years, joining nearly every private school on the Peninsula as well as other public school districts as member participants.
