Talk #3
March Topic: AB 3216: The Phone-Free Schools Act smart phones
Please mark your calendars for our next Admin Talk on Tuesday, March 10, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. in the school library. This session will focus on a critical topic for our district: the policies and practices related to AB 3216: The Phone-Free Schools Act. We are fortunate that WES has long maintained clear and highly effective guidelines regarding cell phones and personal devices, which have successfully supported a focused learning environment for many years. This new state legislation requires all school districts to formally adopt a policy that limits or prohibits the use of smartphones by students while they are on campus. Your partnership remains invaluable as we move to align our successful, long-standing practices with this new state mandate. AB 3216 requires us to formally gather community input as part of the process for the School Board to approve an official policy.

Following the Admin Talk, we will be conducting a survey of the entire parent community. Your feedback will be a crucial part of the process before the School Board considers adopting a formal policy that solidifies our current, effective guidelines regarding the use of smartphones by our pupils while they are at a school site. We look forward to a positive and constructive discussion with all of you.

Talk #2
November Topic: SEL & Restorative PracticesRestorative practices
Mon., Nov. 3; 6-7pm; Sellman
To help our families better understand how Woodside Elementary School addresses student behavior, discipline, and bullying prevention, we're hosting an Admin Talk focused specifically on this topic. This session provided valuable insights into how Woodside Elementary addresses these critical areas and supports our students' social-emotional development. This was an excellent opportunity to learn more about our restorative approach and ask any questions you may have about how we support all students in making positive choices.
