THURSDAY, MARCH 23 @ 7:15AM

Good Morning WES Families,

Unfortunately, the power remains out at WES, and the current estimate for restoration is 11 p.m. this evening.  Despite the power outage, WES will remain open, just like yesterday.

We realize that many of you are without power at home and are dealing with additional issues such as downed trees, mudslides, closed roads, etc.  Please know that WES is open and your children will be safe.

With no access to our phone lines and email at school, the best way to reach us is to stop by the school office in person.  We were able to connect a rotary phone to our fax line so if there is an emergency, we are able to call out.  The phone number is 650-851-5577.  To keep the line clear, please only call if there is an emergency.

Let's hope that the power is restored to the community soon, but in the meantime, rest assured that your children will be safe.

Sincerely,

Mr. Frank

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 22 @ 12PM

Dear Woodside School Families,

Given the conditions and widespread impact of yesterday's storm, we hope that you are well. WES is currently without power and the ability to communicate on-site. With that said, we are currently open, the bathrooms are in working order, and we have coordinated with our lunch service provider to have the student lunches delivered right before the lunch break so that they are warm. The students are doing a great job of adjusting to the disruption of having no power.

The intensity of yesterday's storm picked up by 1:15 p.m. and saw the power at WES go out. By 5 p.m., the north side of Woodside Road was flooded, and this caused the Sellman parking lot to flood. By 7 p.m., we were able to open the grates to allow water to recede from the parking lot. Fortunately, there was no flooding to Sellman Auditorium.

The estimate for power to be restored is 11 p.m. this evening. We assume that the rest of this school day will be without power but are also hopeful that the power will be operational tomorrow when we begin school. In the meantime, if you need to communicate with the school, please stop by the main office.

We understand that many of you are impacted by this recent storm, on top of the damage from previous storms. We have several families impacted by the mudslide on Patrol Road. There are roads closed and trees down everywhere, and driving to school is either very challenging or altogether impossible. Please be very careful when driving, and if your child arrives late, that is fine.

Student safety is of the utmost importance, and while we may not have power, we are doing everything we can to make students feel safe and for them to experience as normal of a school day as possible. Pick-up times will not change. The bus will operate normally. Workshop Education, our after-school care provider, will be open.

We expect to have power return tomorrow in time for school, but we will remain open even if that does not happen. Please take care and be safe, and if you need to contact the school, please come by the main office in person.

Thank you,

Mr. Frank
