Welcome to first grade and thank you for visiting my web page. I started teaching first grade at Woodside Elementary School in 2002 and I absolutely love everyday I spend with my students. There is nothing greater than seeing my students overcome their challenges and persevere to succeed. Every student has their own unique personality and learning style. I’m thankful I have the opportunity to work with each one of them to meet their educational needs.
One of the many ways I have seen tremendous growth from my students has been through an animal assisted therapy program called “Reading with the Dogs”. Through this unique program, students are able to improve their reading and fluency in a non-threatening environment by reading to dogs which reduces their anxiety of reading in front of others. We are one of very few schools to implement this program. Pictured are my two Newfoundlands, Daisy Mae and Ellie Mae, who both happily participate in this wonderful program. When I'm not in the classroom, you can find me riding my Clydesdale horse.
Here’s to another enjoyable, successful, and educational year in first grade!
