Top of Page

Meet Ben, our newest official Sheriffs Office Therapy Dog! Ben is here to promote safety awareness, provide comfort to community members, and to serve as a mental health resource for anybody in our community. Ben will be stopping by at various community events, giving demonstrations, visiting schools and more! If you see him on the street, we encourage you to say hello and give him a pet! 🐶 🐾

San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus is pleased to announce our new therapy dog program: a community outreach initiative to bring comfort to people in crisis and help foster positive interactions between the Sheriff’s Office and the San Mateo County community. In a commitment to strengthen our bond with the community, please meet Ben, our newest Sheriff’s Office therapy dog. Ben’s sweet demeanor and ability to share unconditional comfort will help decrease symptoms of anxiety and improve the mood of those in crisis. Our therapy dog program is aimed to enhance community outreach by recognizing the therapeutic impacts an encounter with a friendly canine companion can have on children and adults alike. Our goal is to expand this program to ensure community members in our coastal and bayside communities have access to this resource. “I am so excited we can now offer this additional resource to those we serve. The therapy dog program has been one of my visions for many years. Ben is a friendly face that will soon become part of the community. I invite you to join us at upcoming events to meet Ben in person, ask questions about our therapy dog program, and experience the benefits of an emotional canine firsthand." - Sheriff Christina Corpus
