Please help our Community Service class support the Samaritan House — a local, worthy cause. Students and families can drop food off in the barrels in front of the office and Sellman, or bring it to their classroom no later than Friday, May 20th.
The Community Service Elective Class is organizing a Food Drive to support the Samaritan House. The students are collecting nonperishable breakfast foods such as oatmeal, cereal, granola bars, jams, syrup, pancake, waffles, bread and muffin mixes, bagels and bread, tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. They are also collecting protein items like canned tuna, beans, oat milk, nuts, soups, and canned meats like chili and chicken.
Both first trimester and 2nd trimester elective classes attended a Zoom class with the Samaritan House's Weecare Program and learned that:
25,000 San Mateo County residents are helped through this organization
4,500 bags of groceries are given out each week
100 people a night sleep and eat at their shelter each night
1,200 meals are prepared and delivered daily
800 cars a week access the pantry drive-through weekly
4,500 bags of gently used clothing are given to children each month
Together we can make a positive difference right here in our own county! Thank you!
