Community Grant Project

With an eye towards encouraging Woodside residents to participate in philanthropy, the Woodside Community Foundation's board of Directors just announced that the Foundation will sponsor a Community Grant Project in the spring of this year.  The Foundation will award three grants of $5,000 each to community benefit projects sponsored by Woodside residents at a special event entitled "Woodside Day of Giving" on May 12, 2018 at 5pm at Independence Hall.

A panel of five judges comprised of community members will be convened to score the proposals according to their feasibility and merits.  Community judges will cull down the submissions to ten applications or 10% of the applications (whichever is less).  The WCF Board of Directors will select the final three grantees.

Prospective participants are asked to complete a brief questionnaire/proposal through the Foundation's website describing his/her project, projected expenses, anticipated social media coverage, and expected community outcomes/benefits.

Any Woodside Resident is eligible to participate in the Grant Project. Youth, with adult sponsors, are encouraged to apply.

Projects must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be Woodside residents.
  • The project must support the charitable interests of the Woodside Community, although the project may benefit a regional or global project. Projects may include community service, education, arts, preservation, recreation, and landscaping of public areas, though this list of possible projects is not exhaustive.
  • Participants under the age of 18 must have an adult sponsor.
  • Consideration will be given to proposals submitted by non-501(c)(3) community groups.
  • All grant proceeds must be used to further project goals and may not be used for individual compensation.
