Jonathan Schneider
6th, 7th & 8th grade Social Studies

I joined the Woodside School Upper School team in 2019 and love being a part of this community.

I am a Bay Area native, born and raised in San Carlos. I attended Cañada College before receiving my B.A. in Archaeology with a minor in History from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. During my time as an undergrad I was able to take part in various research projects including paleoethnobotany analysis of plant samples from Baja California, prehistoric burial site excavations in Sacramento, and pyramid structure excavation in the Belize.

I moved back to California in 2015 and received my single subject Social Studies credential from Notre Dame de Namur University. During the credential program I was fortunate enough to student teach in both middle and high school settings, which has helped me further develop my understanding of the skills students need to focus on to better prepare them for high school and beyond.

In my spare time I love to go rock climbing, biking, and taking my three-legged dog Treeo out for short and slow walks around the neighborhood. I also enjoy taking part in local theatrical productions and love the WES Operetta and seeing what the students can do on stage!

I believe in making learning accessible and engaging. Every individual has their own unique interests, perspectives, and needs. Communication between myself, the students, and their families will be key in helping to create a positive and effective learning environment. My goal is to create a space where students can interact with the content and understand how their own histories have been shaped by the past.
