My Background
This will be my tenth year teaching middle school Language Arts and my fifth year teaching at Woodside School. I love being a wildcat! This year I am excited to be teaching 7th and 8th grade ELA and 6th grade Social Studies this school year. I look forward to seeing all my students again and watching them thrive!

About Me
I grew up in the Central Valley before earning my B.A. in English Literature from UC Santa Cruz. From there, I went on to attain my single subject English teaching credential from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. I then earned my M.A. in Literature from San Francisco state. Reading and writing have always been my passion since I was very young. One could always find me with a book—or two—in my hand! It is this passion that I bring to my classroom and want to share with my students. When I’m not in my classroom I love spending time with my family and friends (and my puppy Chloe!), traveling, and trying out new restaurants around the Bay Area.

My Philosophy
As a teacher I am committed to ensuring that each and every one of my students is successful. The way I measure student success is not only by looking at their academic achievement, but also taking into consideration their ability to effectively collaborate with their classmates, and their social-emotional growth as individuals. Without all three of these attained—academics, collaborative skills, and social-emotional learning—I do not consider my job as their teacher as having been a complete success. In order to be able to facilitate my students’ fulfillment of these different aspects, it is necessary (and inherently indicative of my success as a teacher) that I build a good rapport with my students and foster a safe learning environment where they feel both personally empowered and realize that they are an essential part of a larger learning community.

Students should always feel welcome at any point throughout the year to come to me with any questions or concerns. My door is always open and I will do whatever it takes to help all of my students succeed. I am looking forward to a great year!
