Project Submission Deadline: February 1-February 20, 2026
FEBRUARY BREAK starts on February 13, so the deadline is the Friday of February Break.
Who: 6th, 7th, and 8th Graders
Participation:Optional — This is an enrichment opportunity only.
Students are encouraged to participate for fun and for the love of science — no grades will be given, and no official class time will be used to work on projects.
Opportunities for Students
All Upper School students (6th–8th) are invited to participate.
9 project spots will be requested for our Woodside students.
A spot is earned when a student’s project and slideshow meet County requirements.
If more than 9 students qualify, they will present to a panel of judges to earn a spot.
Students may complete a project even if they don’t want to compete at the County STEM Fair.
Resources will be provided, including timelines, scientific process outlines, a STEM Fair details packet, slideshow tips, and judging guidelines.
Students will have a chance to practice presentations either in class or with a group at recess.
Presentation Details
6th Grade and 7B: Present during Science class (takes the place of the second trimester Current Event Presentation).
7A and 8th Grade: Present during lunch or recess.
Students may work individually or in pairs — choose partners wisely!
Ways I Can Support Students
Students have flexible options for getting help, depending on their schedule:
Office Hours: Mondays at lunch.
Email or Drop-In: Recess or lunch for quick questions or project check-ins.
Independent Work: Projects can be done at home, with some communication required for county participation.
I’ll be here to mentor and support students throughout the process!
NEW THIS YEAR — 2 Judges Needed by November 14
To participate in the 2026 STEM Fair, each school is required to provide 2 STEM Fair judges.
This is a new County rule due to a shortage of qualified judges.
Judges can be parents or community members — no special science background required, just an interest in supporting students.
More information: STEM Fair Judges Page 👉 If you’re interested in volunteering as a judge, please email me before November 1.
Why Participate?
The STEM Fair is a fantastic opportunity for students to:
Research something they love in science
Practice the scientific method
Analyze data, make charts and graphs
Build and create
Share their discoveries — without the pressure of a grade
