Hispanic Heritage Month

Hispanic Heritage Month runs through October 15.  Thank you to Mrs. Brown, our Spanish teacher, for pooling together some resources for our families to learn more about the month and to come up with ideas to celebrate and learn more about the different Spanish speaking cultures in our community and beyond.

The National Museum of the American Latino has a website that explains why we celebrate, why this month, some extremely important Americans of latino descent, some recipes that look absolutely delicious, and much more.

The San Mateo County Libraries have a number of celebrations on the Peninsula with celebrations of their own. Here are some activities that will be taking place at the Woodside and Portola Valley libraries. While visiting the library pick up a book or two that is written by a Latine or Hispanic writer.  KQED also lists a number of Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations throughout the Bay Area

Listen to Latino USA a latin news and culture podcast and to 10 Great TED Talks by Hispanic and Latinx Speakers.
