Town of Woodside Firearm Safety Day

Saturday, September 30 from 10am to 2pm
Independence Hall

The town, in collaboration with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department, is hosting a firearm safety day on Saturday September 30th (not September 29 as what was listed in last Friday’s communication).  The event will take place at Independence Hall from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and will involve deputies and public service officers of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s office along with the Mayor and members of the town council of Woodside.

The purpose of the firearm safety day is to educate the public about the need to and methods of, safely securing and storing firearms. In addition to in-person conversations with law enforcement, we will have handouts on a variety of topics including advice and tips for discussing firearm safety with children and families. For those interested and in need, the sheriff’s office will have trigger locks available free of charge. Every firearm should be stored safely and securely to prevent unplanned or unintended access. Firearm safety is non-negotiable.

Note: DO NOT bring any firearm to the safety day under any circumstances. Participants can inquire about surrendering unwanted firearms at a different time and day with the deputies on-hand. There will also be a gun buy-back event in December with a date and location to be announced soon.
