On any given day, I can look around the room and feel like the luckiest person in the entire world. I get to spend almost every day teaching science to Woodside’s Upper School studens. I have been teaching for over 20 years now and continue to LOVE it! Students grow so much over the course of Upper School and I will never get tired of watching them become independent and responsible for their learning and education. This is going to be the best year EVER!
MY BACKGROUND
I grew up in Sonoma, California. I attended the University of Southern California (GO TROJANS) where I earned my undergraduate and Masters degree in Education with an emphasis in the biological sciences. While at SC, I participated in Semester at Sea, where I circumnavigated the globe by ship, exploring 10 different countries in 100 days. It was a life-changing experience. After graduating college, I moved to the Manhattan Beach area where I taught 5th grade for 10 years.
Now, I live in West Menlo Park with my husband, Jake and sons, Casey and Drew. Jake is a Senior Vice President at Visa and is an amazingly supportive and thoughtful husband. Casey is a high school junior and Drew is a high school freshman! Both boys love baseball, fishing, skiing, video games, and our dog, Penny! We spend our free time taking field trips, being outside, having dinner with friends, and traveling to Tahoe. On most Friday nights, you can find us eating dinner at the Dutch Goose.
MY PHILOSOPHY
I love being a teacher. I love science. I love my students. I care for them and their success the moment they walk through my door. I have extremely high expectations and know the students are capable of far more than they can imagine. People are born Scientists! I want them to be happy, have fun learning, love to be in class, and love learning about science. I will teach the science content required, study skills, life skills, and a love for science.
We are all a team; the student, the teacher, and the parents. Each student’s needs are different and require special attention. Working closely with each student’s family is a vital component to student success. Please feel free to contact me about anything, anytime.
This year WILL be a good one! I can't wait to watch your children grow and learn. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me about anything at all. We are a TEAM!
