Hello Upper School Families,

I hope that the first days of school went extremely well for your child. On behalf of the whole Upper School team, I want to thank you for a wonderful return to school. The first days of school went off without a hitch, and it was so wonderful to see parents on campus dropping off their children and across the street at the PTA coffee event. We appreciate you dropping off your child prior to 8:25am each day and your caution in the drop-off lanes as students enter and exit their cars. Your partnership is invaluable, and we are so grateful for all that you do to help the school day run smoothly.

I would also like to thank our incredible staff members, who spent countless hours, days, and weeks preparing for the return of our students. We truly have the best team around, and your students are in the most capable hands! Watching the teachers greet our students so warmly and introduce them to their classroom communities has been a highlight for me, and it’s incredible to see our students so engaged. It was also wonderful to see students together in their grade level groups on the first day of school, participating in community-building activities and re-engaging with one another! All of our students seemed so happy to be back together again.

Our school theme for this month is “community” and as I have walked around campus the last few days, I have been noticing all of the things, small and large, that I value about our community. From the middle schoolers running around helping one another to decode their class schedules, to the communities our teachers build within the four walls of the classroom, to the Woodside spirit and pride we feel when we all sit together at the back-to-school assembly, one thing is for certain: our community is incredibly special. The staff and I look forward to further exploring and celebrating the idea of community over the next month and throughout the entirety of the school year. I am grateful for the part that your family plays in our school community, and look forward to seeing you all in person much more this year!

Thank you again for your support, and here’s to a successful and joyous school year!

Warmly,

Jenn Pedersen
